Dr. Lárraga has book review published in ‘Journal of South Texas’

Maribel Lárraga, PhD, Professor of Spanish, reviewed the book, “The Places of Modernity in Early Mexican American Literature, 1848-1949,” by Jose F. Aranda. The review was published in “The Journal of South Texas,” Volume 37, Number 1 in Spring 2023.

Dr. Lárraga also participated in the United Way Leadership Society Focus Group, representing OLLU in July.

Saints volleyball splits series with Texas A&M-Texarkana

The OLLU volleyball team and Texas A&M University – Texarkana (TAMUT) went into this weekend’s series undefeated with 6-0 records in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). On Friday, the Saints came out ahead to win 3-2, but TAMUT won the battle on Saturday and now both teams are 7-1 in the RRAC. OLLU is 10-8 overall, while the Eagles are 15-6.

Camila Ramirez led the Saints with 17 kills in Friday’s victory. Ramirez and Mia Dorsey led the Saints with 15 kills each in Saturday’s loss.

Saints men’s soccer defeats Paul Quinn, 4-1

The OLLU men’s soccer team played a rough match against Paul Quinn College (PQC) and won 4-1 in a Red River Athletic Conference matchup. The Saints improve to 3-5-1 and 3-2-1 in conference, while PQC drops to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in conference.

Samuel Villegas scored two goals and assisted Victor Villegas on a third goal. Stan Driessen also scored for OLLU and was assisted by Louis Nicholson.
