The No. 21-ranked OLLU women’s tennis team lost a close match against LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) 4-3 on April 6 to wrap up play at the LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) Tournament. The Saints are now 12-7 on the season while the Pilots move to 5-4.
Head Coach Dave Watts said, “Today was an absolute thriller of a match. We knew LSUS had improved since last year. We started off with a big doubles point from our line three and one. We lost five of six first sets on the courts for singles. Ana Ossio and Alexandra Mille did a great job coming back to win their singles matches. It all came down to Sofia Gonzalez at line five who came back from down four match points to win the second set. She played her heart out in the third set but lost one or two key points to lose 5-7. I was proud of the way they competed today. I know if we continue to keep playing and fighting to win these matches, the sky is the limit for this team.”
