IFCC Hosts Artist in Residence Sonya Rosario for “Conscientious Filmmaking” Workshop

November 12–13, 2025 | 6–8:30 p.m. | MARC Ballroom

Sonya Rosario is an award-winning independent filmmaker and founder of Sonya Rosario Productions (est. 2000). Now based in San Antonio after nearly three decades in Idaho, Rosario is known for amplifying the voices of women in rural and Indigenous communities—ensuring their contributions to activism, education, and legislation are seen and remembered.

The International Folk Culture Center (IFCC) invites the OLLU community to join Artist in Residence, Sonya Rosario, for a two-day presentation and workshop titled Conscientious Filmmaking.

This interactive session will explore internalized racial oppression and colorism through the lens of women and social justice films. Participants will examine the role of film history, the representation of women in media, and how both urban and rural experiences shape social justice storytelling.
