Applications Open for 2027–2028 | Deadline: January 29, 2027
At Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), preparing future educators means investing in the students who will shape the next generation. Through the Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers, eligible undergraduate students pursuing teacher certification have an opportunity to receive support as they prepare to enter the classroom and make a lasting difference in the lives of Texas students.
The scholarship supports aspiring teachers as they complete an approved teacher certification pathway and participate in a required year-long teacher residency. For OLLU students, this opportunity can help support their journey from the classroom to the front of their own classrooms, where they can inspire learning, build confidence and help students reach their full potential.

An Opportunity to Make an Impact
The need for dedicated, well-prepared educators makes teacher preparation an important part of OLLU’s commitment to serving communities and expanding educational opportunities. By connecting eligible students with scholarship support and hands-on residency experience, this opportunity encourages future teachers to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to lead their own classrooms.
For students called to the teaching profession, the scholarship offers an opportunity to invest in their professional goals while preparing to make a meaningful impact in schools and communities across Texas.

Eligible OLLU undergraduate students pursuing the following teacher certification pathways may qualify:
- EC–6 Core Certification: Including Bilingual, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Special Education.
