OLLU student assisting elementary school with Spurs Team Up Challenge

Brandi Cuevas, an OLLU student, has been working as a Scholar Mentor at Wilson Elementary with the Garden Club as part of the San Antonio Spurs Team Up Challenge–a part of the Spurs Sports and Entertainment Silver and Black Give Back. Part of the challenge requires teaming up with community partners to incorporate educational fun into their programs and address needs within their community.

Cuevas has helped the students at Wilson Elementary build one in-ground garden and 13 boxed gardens. Each harvest, the students deliver fresh, organic produce to needy families in the school.

As part of the Challenge, five schools will be selected as “Champions” based on their work within their community and will be awarded $20,000.

The OLLU community is encouraged to help Wilson Elementary become a champion and win $20,000 by voting for them beginning today using this link. There is not limit to the number of times a person can vote per day. Voting closes April 7.
