OLLU’s Brittany Stone selected to Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team

2014BrittanyStone-3OLLU received notice that Brittany Stone has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs since 2011. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at their positions. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. Stone is a junior from Helotes, Texas, and a graduate of O’Connor High School. She is majoring in Biology and Chemistry. She finished the 2013-2014 school year with a 3.51 GPA. McNair Scholars program accepting applications

The McNair Scholars program is accepting applications for the fall 2014 cohort. The McNair Scholars program prepares undergraduate students who are interested in earning a master’s degree or PhD. McNair Scholars conduct original research, present at conferences, attend cultural events, and network with other McNair Scholars around the country.

Students encouraged to ‘Give a Duck About the Lake’

Students are invited to “Give a Duck About the Lake,” tomorrow from 6-8 p.m. at the Pacelli Pool. The event is a fun way for students to support the Lake Fund.

Students will be able to buy and catch rubber ducks from the Pacelli Pool for chances to win prizes. The cost is $5 per duck or three ducks for $10. Sausage wraps, pickles, chips and a drink will be sold for $5 or $10 will get students three ducks, food and a chance to win the grand prize.

The Rock-a-Ducks will be playing from 6-7:30 p.m.

Ducks and food will be sold while supplies last.

Early registration for summer and fall 2014 begins today

Beginning today, OLLU students will be able to register for summer and fall courses. Summer and fall 2014 course schedules are available on WebAdvisor. Early registration runs online 7 a.m.-midnight, and in person 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

The schedule for early registration is as follows:

  • Today – Seniors, Master’s and Doctoral Students
  • Tuesday – Juniors, Seniors, Master’s and Doctoral Students
  • Wednesday – all currently enrolled students

After Wednesday, online registration will be available through WebAdvisor from 7 a.m.-midnight and in person registration will be available in the Registrar’s Office during regular business hours.

Students must make an appointment with their adviser to select their courses and receive permission to register online. New freshmen (those who began in fall 2013 or spring 2014) must contact their adviser from the Student Success Center for advising and registration.

Students encouraged to visit the Student Success Solutions Office

OLLU students are encouraged to come meet the staff of the Student Success Solutions Center and find out more about the services offered at the Center. The Student Success Solutions Office (formerly the Retention Office) collaborates with university faculty and staff to ensure students receive a quality education and have the necessary resources to complete their degree. Its services are designed to assist in persistence to graduation while implementing any level of interventions with students, faculty and staff. Services are available to every OLLU student. The office is located in the Student Success Center in Moye Hall.
