OLLU holding food collection drive for Lent

Mission and Ministry, Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Alumni and Family Relations are teaming up to collect donations of peanut butter and canned food to help feed the hungry.

While peanut butter is the most requested item, other suggested donations include canned tuna/chicken, canned soups, and canned vegetables and fruit.

During Lent, we are asked to focus more intently on “almsgiving,” which means donating money or goods to the poor and performing other acts of charity. Donations will support the “40 Cans for Lent” initiative by Catholic Charities which has a goal of collecting 200,000 pounds of food during Lent.

The collection will continue through April 13.

Drop off stations are located in Elliott House, Worden School Building, Room 23, and the Main Building Welcome Desk.

Members of the OLLU online, RGV, and Houston communities are invited to donate by purchasing supplies through the Amazon Wish List, which can be found online: https://a.co/2C1n40k.
