Winners announced for One Percent for Saints Success Challenge

A celebration for the winners of the inaugural One Percent for Saints Success Challenge was held on May 12 in the Sueltenfuss Library.

McNair Scholars Program Director Jessica Quintero, PhD, won first place and a prize of $5,000 for “First Generation Celebration,” which celebrates the first generation student experience.

Psychology Professor John Gomez, PhD, won second place and a prize of $2,500 for “Double Major in Four Years,” a degree plan that made double majors and dual degrees more common within OLLU’s standard 120-credit-hour college degree plan.

Associate Professor of Environmental Science Briana Salas, PhD, and Instructor of Professional Writing and Communication Jamie Crosswhite, PhD, won third place and a prize of $1,000 for “The EcoJEDI Project,” which works to recruit, retain and graduate STEM students.
