Confetti Run/Walk set for Saturday; roads will close beginning Thursday

The Seventh Annual 5K Confetti Run & Walk will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. on the Front Walk in front of Main Building.

It’s not too late to register! Registration ($45 the day of the race) and packet pickup is at 7:30 a.m. Registration for children 12-and-under is free. The Kids Run begins at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be given at 10:30 a.m. 

“I am beyond excited for the Seventh Annual Confetti Run & Walk,” said race coordinator Elizabeth Longoria. “It’s been seven years already! I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy it!”

To accommodate the route for the Confetti 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, the following road and parking lot closures will be in effect beginning Thursday evening:

Parking Lot and Road Closures
Thursday
Lot A (in front of Main Building) will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. and will remain closed through Saturday evening.

Friday
The disabled parking spaces along Providence Road and Elm Road will be unavailable after 5 p.m. on Friday and will remain unavailable until noon Saturday.

Other disabled parking spaces are available in parking lots B, E, J and I. If spaces are unavailable, or if assistance is needed, contact Campus Police at 210-431-4022

Saturday
Providence Road and Elm Road will be closed Saturday to through traffic beginning at 6 a.m. and will remain closed until 1:15 p.m.

Sister Isabel’s Way (at the west entrance to campus) will be open but will be coned off to allow for two-way traffic.

Note:
Lots B and Lot C (near the soccer field) will be closed to through traffic during the race (9-10:45 a.m.). Students may park in these lots as long as they arrive prior to 9 a.m. and do not leave before 10:45 a.m.

Fifth Annual OLLU Confetti 5K Run/Walk welcomed 600 participants

Approximately 600 runners/walkers participated in the Fifth Annual OLLU Confetti 5K Run/Walk on Saturday. Funds raised benefit scholarships for OLLU students.

President Diane Melby participated in the run. Mariachi sensation, six-year-old Mateo Lopez sang the National Anthem to kick off the event. Plus, Grup Folklorico de Bendeciones performed, and members of the Fiesta Flambeau Parade were on hand to help promote next year’s Fiesta San Antonio – the Confetti Run is a pre-Fiesta San Antonio event.

Jackie Baldazo, a member of OLLU’s competitive cheer team, took first place in her age category. See a full list of race award recipients:
