Senior wins award at American College of Sports Medicine event

Kinesiology senior Angelique Luna was recently recognized as a MARC Institutional Award winner at the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American College of Sports Medicine. The annual meeting was held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Nov. 3-4.

Luna presented her research titled “Cardiometabolic Risk Factors in Hispanic College-Aged Women.” The project was completed within the McNair Scholars Program under the direction of Emily Sauers, PhD, Associate Professor of Kinesiology.

OLLU students participate in Latino Leadership Summit

OLLU students Amanda Salazar, Alyn Manzo, Jacqueline Alfaro and Angelique Luna participated in the first San Antonio Latino Leadership Summit. The event was held April 1 on the campus of Trinity University and involved college students from throughout San Antonio. The students spent the day discussing issues they feel are most important and talking about potential action steps for the most pressing concerns. Students are hoping to make this an annual event.
