OLLU receives three votes in NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll

OLLU has received three votes in the fifth edition of the 2022 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Saints first received 13 votes on Aug. 31, but fell off inclusion up to now despite subsequently winning 13 of 14 matches.

Xavier University of Louisiana, who had been undefeated through this past weekend, received 11 votes on Oct. 12 and six votes on Sept. 28. The Saints swept the Gold Nuggets last Saturday and Sunday, and were hoping to crack the Top 25, but the team welcomes receiving three votes this week.

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”

In the most recent Red River Athletic Conference Poll, OLLU is on top followed by Xavier, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Louisiana Christian University, Jarvis Christian University, the University of the Southwest, Huston-Tillotson University and Texas College.
