Fitness Field Day to be held on Thursday

The Kinesiology Program will hold its first Fitness Field Day on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. next to the soccer field.

Activities will include relay races, obstacle courses, and team challenges.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to join the fun. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or just looking to have some fun, there’s something for everyone! There also will be vendors showcasing fitness gear, healthy snacks, and wellness information.

How to Participate:

– Bring your friends and enjoy a lively evening!

– Dress comfortably and come ready to move!

Kinesiology Program presents October fitness classes

Fitness classes for October include:

Mondays: Functional Training – 5:30 p.m. – UWAC Aerobics Room
Tuesdays: Walking Club – 7 a.m.—Meet at Library Circle
Wednesdays: Lift and Tone (Students Only) – 6 p.m. — UWAC Aerobics Room
Fridays: Mindful Movement (Faculty and Staff Only) – 12:30 p.m. – Online Via Teams

Reminder: Join free workout classes offered by the Kinesiology program

The Kinesiology program continues to offer a variety of free workout classes for students, faculty and staff. Classes scheduled for September are:
Mondays – Total Body Tone – 5:15 p.m. – UWAC Aerobics Room
Tuesdays – Walking Club – 7 a.m. – Meet at Library Circle
Wednesdays – Rock Your Core – 5:30 p.m. – UWAC Aerobics Room
Thursdays – Fitness Flow – 6 p.m.—UWAC Aerobics Room
Fridays – Mindful Movement – Noon – Online

Classes are organized by Fitness Coordinator Alyssa Garcia, whose position was made possible through a Title V grant received by the Kinesiology program last year. For additional information, email Garcia at kinesiology@ollusa.edu.

Kinesiology students took part in statewide sports medicine conference

Members of OLLU’s Kinesiology Program took part in the Texas American College of Sports Medicine Conference held in Waco Feb. 23-24. The students in attendance were Jackie Baldazo, David Cruz, Amaya Stuefen, and Angelique Luna. They were accompanied by Dr. Emily Sauers, Associate Professor of Kinesiology.

Dr. Sauers, students published study in international journal

Dr. Emily Sauers, Associate Professor of Kinesiology, and undergraduate students Madison Garza and Jennifer Estrada had a study published in the International Journal of Exercise Science Conference Proceedings.

The study is titled, “The Effects of Acute Fasting on Anaerobic Performance in NAIA Softball Players. The abstract can be viewed online.
