Baseball’s Kobey Allison named to Postseason All-Tournament team

OLLU baseball player Kobey Allison won Red River Athletic Conference All-Tournament honors for his recent performance during the postseason tournament in Louisiana. 

The Saints lost their first game of the tournament 6-8 against the University of Houston-Victoria. Allison scored two runs and walked twice in the game on May 1.

In the second game of the tournament, the Saints defeated the University of the Southwest 20-15. Allison had a tremendous outing, going 2-for-4 and scoring three runs. He hit two grand slam home runs and tallied eight RBI, tying the OLLU all-time record of RBIs in a game.

In the Saints’ final game of the tournament, the team lost 4-21. Alison scored one run in that game.  Throughout the tournament, Allison recorded six putouts and had a perfect fielding percentage. 

For the year, the newcomer played in 40 games and had 116 at-bats. He scored 22 runs, adding 30 hits, six doubles, four triples, three home runs, 26 RBIs, 16 walks and five stolen bases. His season average was .259, adding a .380 OBP and .457 SLG.

Baseball falls short in series against LSU-A

The OLLU baseball team took one of three games against LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) this past weekend, winning the finale, 13-0, after dropping the first two games, 7-5 and 8-3.

The Saints move to 21-22 overall and 10-14 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Generals jump to 17-18 overall and 14-9 in the RRAC.

In the finale, Vincent Banda, Brandon Betancourt and Kobey Allison each had three RBI for the Saints.
