The OLLU baseball team has been picked to finish No. 5 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Baseball Coaches’ Preseason Poll. The Saints open their 10th season on Friday at 2 p.m. with a doubleheader against Science and Arts at Mission Baseball Academy.
Earning the top spot in the preseason poll is LSU-Shreveport, which received all 11 first-place votes for a total of 121 votes. LSU-Alexandria received 99 votes, followed by Louisiana Christian University with 95 votes, the University of Houston-Victoria with 93 votes and OLLU with 75 votes.
Coming in sixth is Texas A&M University – Texarkana with 74 votes, followed by the University of the Southwest with 53 votes, Jarvis Christian University with 41 votes and Huston-Tillotson University with 33 votes. Tenth place is Xavier University of Louisiana with 28 votes and in 11th is Texas College with 14 votes.
The Saints finished the 2023 season as RRAC Semifinalists. The team marked a 30-20 overall record and 20-9 in the RRAC. The Saints begin the 2024 season at home on Jan. 26 with a doubleheader against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
