Baseball hosted Wiley College this weekend to open the conference schedule. The men won both games on Friday, 4-2 and 6-5. In the second day, the game got rained out after four innings with the Saints leading 11-2. Read more.

OLLU signs first members of the inaugural baseball team
OLLU announced the signing of its first members of the inaugural men’s baseball team that will begin competing in the spring of 2015. Signing letters of intent last week were Darius Patton from San Antonio, Texas and Jacob “Jake” Simmons from La Porte, Texas. Both will start at OLLU in the fall of 2014. Head Coach Freddy Rodriguez said, “This is a historic day for the University and an exciting time for me as we sign our first-ever baseball student-athletes. The two we have signed are exceptional young men both on the playing field and in the classroom, and I look forward to what they will contribute to the team.” Read full story online.
Freddy Rodriguez is new head coach for OLLU’s inaugural men’s baseball team
OLLU has hired Freddy Rodriguez as the head coach for the inaugural 2014-2015 men’s baseball team. The Saints will begin competing in spring 2015 through the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as part of the Red River Athletic Conference. Rodriguez comes to OLLU from NAIA/Red River opponent Texas College, where he has been the head baseball coach since 2006 and the athletic director since 2013. He will start his position at OLLU on June 1. The Saints held two tryouts during the spring at the Missions Baseball Academy, where they will hold their practices and games. The complex is located at 5707 State Highway 151 (Callaghan Rd. exit), in San Antonio – about three miles from the OLLU campus.
