‘OLLU Giving Days’ a success, Student Royalty winners crowned

The third annual “OLLU Giving Days” ended last week with almost $10,000 raised and new Student Royalty winners crowned.

Sister RoseAnn Castilleja, M.C.M., a senior social work major, and Gingerlei Seda, a junior social work major, raised $2,851, the most among the student campaigns. The total made them OLLU Student Royalty winners.

They were crowned by OLLU student and Fiesta Queen of Soul, Rebekah Wynn, on Feb. 19 during the inaugural Saints Rally.

The winning duo will have the opportunity to be “President 4-A-Day” and represent the student body in the Fiesta Flambeau parade. They will receive an OLLU graduation frame and ring. All other candidates received the OLLU silver charm.

Collectively, the student participants raised $9,203 for the OLLU Annual Fund and the Student Emergency Fund.

“The manner in which the student participants rallied together in support of the entire OLLU student body is a powerful example of active service for others and leadership with heart,” said Diana Cavazos, OLLU Director of Annual Giving. “Each participant exemplified grace and integrity during the campaign and made a profound impact on our community.”

The other student royalty candidates were Jackie Baldazo, Savannah Cassiano, Cynthia Hernandez, Gabriela Ibarra, Mellany Flores and Jessica Amador.
