The 32-team field and individual qualifiers for the NAIA Women’s and Men’s Cross-Country National Championships were announced by the national office last Monday. The Our Lady of the Lake University women’s team qualified after placing first in the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Meet last Friday. In addition, men’s cross-country’s Jonathan Yanez qualified as an individual after he placed second in the meet. The women’s field is made up of 21 conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping champions; two conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping runners-up and nine at-large selections. The women’s meet will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. The women’s 5K race will begin at 11:45 a.m. CST. The men’s field is made up of 21 conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping champions; one conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping runner-up and 10 at-large selections. The men’s meet will also take place prior to the women’s race at 10:30 a.m. CST. Ceara O’Donnell selected as conference ‘Runner of the Week’

Ceara O’Donnell was selected as the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the dates of Oct. 21-27. O’Donnell, a freshman from Corpus Christi, Texas, posted a time of 19:53 on the 5K course at the Mid-States Classic on Saturday. She set an OLLU record for her time and has been entered into the University’s Halo Club for Cross-Country for running the 5K in under 20 minutes. She placed 77th in a field of 162 competitors and guided the OLLU team to its best finish in three years at the event.

OLLU cross-country teams run their best meet ever
The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) cross-country teams participated in the Mid-States NAIA Classic on Saturday, and according to Coach Stephen Sherman, the teams played their best meet ever. “Whereas the meet at UIW was perhaps collectively our worst meet ever, this one was for sure collectively our best meet ever. After the result at UIW, I challenged this group to step up, and they did it with emphasis. It was fun to watch, and I could tell the result was enjoyable for them. All of them ran this race masterfully, and it should give them much needed confidence headed into the conference meet in two weeks.” Read more online.
