OLLU Assistant Director for News and Sports Information Patricia Constantin received the Public Relations Society of America – San Antonio Chapter 2024 Tex Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award. The presentation occurred on May 9 at the organization’s PRSA Del Oro Awards Banquet at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Brooks Hotel.
The Tex Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award, a prestigious recognition in the field of public relations, is a testament to Constantin’s outstanding leadership and achievements. This honor, bestowed upon a chapter member who has elevated public relations as a credible profession, underscores the importance of her landmark professional achievements, both personally and professionally. Nominees for this esteemed award must have dedicated 20 or more years to the field of public relations.
Constantin’s unwavering dedication to her PR career since 1986, following her Bachelor of Arts in English-Communication Arts from St. Mary’s University, is truly inspiring. Her journey includes significant roles at the United States Navy in Washington, D.C., for its Surface Warfare Magazine; at Kelly Air Force Base as a writer, editor and speech writer; at the Institute of Texan Cultures as communications manager; at SeaWorld San Antonio in public relations; and at OLLU.
In 2006, Constantin joined the Communications and Marketing staff at OLLU and shortly thereafter became the Sports Information Director for the inaugural athletics program, which began in 2007. She has been running the sports information office for almost 18 years.
During her acceptance speech, Constantin talked about being grateful for her career, especially her position at OLLU. She said, “I am forever grateful for the career God has given me – it’s one that I’ve dreamed of since I was a toddler watching sports with my dad and my five brothers.”
