Woolfolk Lecture Series to present on ‘Selective Mutism’ in youth

The Woolfolk School of Communication Sciences and Disorders will host its biennial Elizabeth Carrow Woolfolk Lecture Series virtually on Saturday at 9 a.m. with a speech-language pathologist and expert on selective mutism. 

Joleen R. Fernald, PhD, author of “The Comprehensive Guide to Selective Mutism,” will discuss “Selective Mutism in Children and Adolescents.” Mutism is a childhood disorder typified by an inability to speak in social situations.

The lecture will feature numerous topics on selective mutism, including the causes and guiding principles of treatment. The lecture will end at 3:15 p.m.
