Professor Gallegos develops human trafficking video seminar for social workers
Kimberly Gallegos, PhD, Assistant Professor of Social Work, has developed a one-hour video seminar, “Human Trafficking: A Training for Social Workers,” for the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
Social workers will be able to earn continuing education units for free through the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and the Texas Health and Human Services Commision websites.
The seminar is designed to provide social workers with a solid understanding of this social (in) justice issue while emphasizing the reasons that the education and training that social workers possess make them ideally suited to assist victims and survivors.
The training has been approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission in accordance with HB 2059, which requires human trafficking training for certain health care practitioners.
