The OLLU community is invited to participate in one of the country’s largest Martin Luther King Jr. marches, Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in front of the MLK Academy. San Antonio’s annual MLK March is organized by the MLK, Jr. Commission to pay tribute to Dr. King. It is the conclusion of a week of educational, inspirational and celebratory events across the city known as “DreamWeek.”

For those who wish to attend, a bus is being provided by the Institutional Advancement Office to transport people from OLLU to the beginning of the route and back to OLLU after the March. The bus will hold 32 people, and is first come, first served. The bus will be at OLLU at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 1:30 p.m.

To sign up to ride the bus, visit the Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism (CSLV) in the Worden School, Room 23. If there is not enough room on the bus for everyone who wishes to attend, there will also be carpooling available at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Worden School. Those who wish to meet at the March can look for the OLLU banner at the beginning of the route at 9:30 a.m.

Students who participate in the March can earn service hours through the CSLV. Hours will begin at 10 a.m. and run through the end of the March (approximately 2.25 hours).

HALO students can earn three HALO points for participating in the March.
