Softball wins one of two against NAIA No. 15-ranked Houston-Victoria

The softball team shut-out the No. 15 NAIA team University of Houston-Victoria 3-0 and then came back to lose 1-9 to finish out the nonconference doubleheader on Saturday. The Saints are 6-3 overall, while the Jaguars are now 4-4. Saints’ pitcher Katrisha Arocha kept the Jaguars to five hits while striking out seven and walking four on 26 at-bats. Amanda Hinojosa led the team in hits with two including one double and two RBIs. Ashley Perez, Megan Perez and Victoria Balderas each had one hit. In the second game, Hinojosa once again led the team in hitting with two. Balderas had the only other hit for the Saints. The team will play on Tuesday in Kerrville against Schreiner University.
