Softball wins one, and ties second game against Southwestern

Megan Perez went 4-for-6 and recorded six RBIs to help the softball team beat Southwestern University 16-4 and tie 7-7 Saturday afternoon. The second game was suspended due to darkness after nine innings. The Saints are now 8-4-1 on the season, while NCAA Division III Southwestern moves to 3-8-1. In the first game, Elizabeth Rodriguez went 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs and one double. Megan Perez went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBIs, a double and a homerun. Larissa Gutierrez went 3-for-3 with one run and two RBIs. Megan Martinez, Ashley Perez and Maegan Ramirez each had a double, while Amanda Hinojosa had one homerun. Arocha pitched four innings allowing one hit, while striking out five and walking one. Hinojosa pitched one inning allowing three hits and four runs while walking three and striking out one. In the second game, Brittany Stone went 2-for-5 with one RBI. Ashley Perez went 2-for-5 with one run. Megan Perez went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, one run and a homerun. Hinojosa went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one double. Ramirez had one homerun. Arocha and Ramirez each went four innings. Ramirez allowed seven hits, four runs, while walking seven and striking out two. Arocha allowed five hits, three runs, while walking three and striking out two. The Saints will return home to host Calumet College of St. Joseph on Tuesday.
