OLLU held its first tryouts last Wednesday for the University’s inaugural 2014-2015 Saints men’s baseball team that will begin competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics as part of the Red River Athletic Conference. Twenty-nine men from a variety of high schools, colleges and universities throughout the area came to the tryout that was held at the Missions Baseball Academy. The men were evaluated on their hitting, pitching and fielding abilities. A second tryout will take place on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Academy located at 5707 State Highway 151 (Callaghan Rd. exit.), San Antonio, Texas 78227. The phone number is 210-269-6725. Participants should bring their own equipment, i.e., bat, glove, ball, to the tryout. The fee to try out is $15 and cash will only be accepted.
