It’s Fiesta time at OLLU with ‘Best of the West’ this weekend

medal-unveiling-botw_2014_01OLLU’s third annual “Best of the West” Fiesta® event will take place Saturday from 4-11 p.m. The family-friendly event will celebrate the Westside of San Antonio and showcase area restaurants, artists and musicians.

This year’s event will feature entertainment from headline band Ready Revolution, as well as Ernie Gariby and Cats Don’t Sleep, Grupo Ondo and Colao.

Children will be able to enjoy a specialized area that will offer a safe environment featuring carnival games, face painting, a rock-climbing wall, arts and crafts, a live animal interaction booth and other activities.

Restaurants featured during “Best of the West” include: Gallo’s Pizza and Subs; Lisa’s Mexican Restaurant; Bayseas Seafood; Papa’s Burgers; Clara’s Gorditas, Sausage Wraps and Funnel Cakes; and Pure Texan BBQ Co.

Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. OLLU students get in free with their OLLU ID.

Parking lot closure and building access for “Best of the West”

To accommodate “Best of the West,” campus parking lots on the east side of campus will begin closing Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. The schedule of lot closures is as follows:

  • Lot I (behind the Library) will close Wednesday at 8 a.m. and will reopen on Monday.
  • Lot J (next to Jersig Center) will close at the end of business on Thursday and will reopen on Sunday.

The Library will be open Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.. The 24-hour study lab will remain open all day, and students will need their IDs to access the building.

The majority of the campus will be on lock down on Saturday. Everyone will need their IDs for access to any buildings that day. Weekend College students who do not have an ID with swiping capabilities may use the front entrance to Main Building to get to their classes. All other entrances will be locked.
