Men’s cross-country places sixth in UIW Invitational

MensCrossCountry10-13The men’s cross-country team escaped a downpour Saturday morning to finish in sixth place in the 2014 Incarnate Word Cross-Country Invitational at Live Oak City Park. Less than 30 minutes after the race was over, and just after the women began their race, torrential rain blanketed the area. The Saints completed the 8K (4.97 miles) with a score of 132 and sixth place in the non-Division I section. Their overall time was 2:14:14. Individually, Jonathan Yanez clocked in at 25:40.1 for 20th place. Gabriel Ellman (FR/Burbank, Calif.) was next at 26:05.8 for 30th place. Next up for the Saints was Luis Garza (FR/Zapata, Texas) whose time was 27:11.6.  The Saints’ next meet is scheduled for Oct. 25 in Winfield, Kansas, at the Southwestern College Mid-States Classic.
