Women’s cross-country endures torrential rain to finish in sixth place in UIW Invitational
The women’s cross-country team started the 2014 Incarnate Word Invitational on Saturday morning with a cool breeze, but before the women could run once around the trail, the rain slowly started coming down. Within a few minutes, the drizzle turned into a downpour that scattered all onlookers under trees, umbrellas and other covers. However, the 134 runners had to endure the weather to continue the 8K race (3.73 miles). The Saints finished in sixth place out of 13 teams in the non-Division I category. The Saints’ overall score was 154 for a time of 2:11:34. Gabriela Guerrero was the Saints’ top finisher for 27th place with a time of 24:32.9. The Saints will run next at the Southwestern College Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kansas. on Oct. 25. Read full story online.
