Our Lady of the Lake University’s Ian Berrigan and assistant golf coach Arnie Martinez are competing in the Valero Texas Open Qualifier after making the cut in the Pre-Qualifier of the competition.
According to Head Coach Alan Baxter, “This is a great accomplishment for both Ian and Coach Arnie. Ian was actually the youngest player to qualify and Arnie was the only golf coach to make it which says a lot about their quality as golfers.”
In the Pre-Qualifier, Martinez posted a 2-under par 70 on the 7,194 yard course to place in a tie for tenth. Berrigan shot a 71 for a 18th place tie. The lowest 24 scores out of 132 players advanced to the qualifying round.
The Valero Texas Open Qualifier takes place today with only the top two players advancing to play in the tournament.
