Larkan-Skinner and Frey receive ‘Best Presentation’ honor at conference

Kara Larkan-Skinner, assistant vice president for institutional research and accreditation, and Frances Frey, director of institutional research, had their presentation, “Using Predictive Models to Improve Student Success,” selected as the “Best Presentation” during the 37th Annual Texas Association for Institutional Research (TAIR) conference.

The presentation highlighted a statistical model built by Larkan-Skinner that identifies students who are academically “at-risk.” The information derived from this model was used by the Student Success Center to intervene with students who were unlikely to successfully complete his or her first semester at OLLU.

By receiving the best presentation award, Larkan-Skinner and Frey will also be able to present at the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) national conference in 2016.
