Former soccer standout Nicholas Boyd-Garza passed away on June 12 at the age of 24. Garza played on the Saints men’s soccer team for two seasons in 2011 and 2012 as a goal keeper and attended OLLU from 2010 through 2013. When he left OLLU, he joined the U.S. Navy and recently completed his term in the service as a Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class. While at OLLU, Garza was recognized as a Red River Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete. He set several career records for the Saints that still stand today, including all-time saves with 112, all-time shutouts with 10, single season saves with 67 in 2011 and single season shutouts with eight in 2010. Garza played 31 games – 14 in 2010 and 17 in 2011. He started in all but one game. His other stats during his two years at OLLU include 2210:41 minutes played, 13 wins, seven losses and one tie.
