The men’s and women’s cross-country teams participated in the annual NAIA Mid-States Classic Saturday morning. The men posted a best-ever fourth place in the 8k at this particular meet, while the women finished in 10th place in the 5k. The meet was held at the Winfield Veterans Home. Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, “The Mid-States Classic is always a great meet. Coach Helmer and Coach Testa did a really nice job of running an efficient meet out there. Of course it helps that we ran pretty well too. It was a day for a few firsts. Our men have never finished in the top ten at this meet, and within that same history we have never finished both teams in the top ten as we did this year. Also, I don’t believe we have ever put a guy in the top 20 individually as we did this time. All in all it was a good day for us.”
