There will be an active shooter drill on the OLLU San Antonio campus this semester. The date and time will be announced shortly before the drill.
During the drill, students, faculty and staff will be asked to seek shelter and protection as if a real emergency were taking place. Doors with swipe-card access will be locked and messages will be broadcast through office phones, speakers and via text and email messages.
Prior to the drill, a message will go out indicating that a test is about to take place. During the drill, actual emergency messages will be used to simulate a real emergency. The emergency messages will be repeated multiple times. The OLLU Communications Office also will communicate through Facebook and Twitter during the drill.
Facilities Management staff will be hanging signs in classrooms this week that provide information about what to do in various emergency situations. During the drill, hall monitors will be located throughout classroom and office buildings observing student, faculty and staff response and provide feedback for future emergency drills.
