Women’s basketball Assistant Coach Stacy Stephens inducted into UT Athletics Women’s Hall of Honor

On Saturday, Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Stacy Stephens was inducted into the University of Texas Athletics Women’s Hall of Honor. Stephens was a two-time Associated Press second team All-American during her decorated career on the Longhorns women’s basketball team from 2000-2004.

Head Coach Christopher Minner, along with Associate Athletic Director Adrienne Rodriguez and OLLU Provost Dr. Marcheta Evans attended the ceremony. Minner commented, “I’m very happy for her. She deserved it and made all associated with her proud of her accomplishment. She gave a great speech, and she continues to show why she is a great role model for female student-athletes.”

Dr. Evans commented, “What a blessing it is to have someone with Stacy’s credentials to be a part of our OLLU coaching staff. She was a phenomenal post player at The University of Texas as well as playing in the WNBA. Beyond those accolades, I have had the opportunity to get to know her as a person. She will be and already is a great role model for our female athletes. One of the greatest moments I witnessed at her induction ceremony was when she took the time to meet with some young middle school girls to sign autographs and take pictures. She is inspiring our future and she realizes the honor it is to serve.”
