OLLU students recognized at Intercollegiate Campus Ministers Awards Banquet

The San Antonio Archdiocese Intercollegiate Campus Ministers Team honored three Our Lady of the Lake students at its annual awards ceremony held on April 11.

Receiving the Outstanding Newmanite Award were Victoria M. Robledo, a computer information systems and security major, and Marissa Gutierrez, a biology major. The awards are given to students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the work of their campus’s ministry office.

Music major Israel Salgado received the De Corazon A Corazon Award (Heart Speaks to Heart Award). This accolade honors those students whose work of forming consciences goes “above and beyond the call of duty” and extends into local parishes, the San Antonio community and beyond.

OLLU’s Director of University Ministry, Creighton Chandler, presented the awards for the three OLLU recipients along with Sr. Patti Lohre, IWBS, OLLU’s University Minister.

“It is truly a privilege to have Victoria, Marissa, and Israel as part of our team of Student Ministers. Each is a wonderful ambassador of what our work at University Ministry is all about—the cultivation of people’s talents in the sacred service of living toward a greater good,” said Creighton. “I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
