Professor Benavides receives ‘First Amendment’ award
Yvette Benavides, MFA, professor of English and creative writing, is the recipient of a First Amendment Award for her radio commentary, “In Plain Sight: Sexual Harassment in Spaces We Thought Were Safe.”
The award was presented by the Society of Professional Journalists at its 15th Annual First Amendment Awards and Scholarship Banquet held on April 27, in Arlington, Texas.
Professor Benavides is a 2018 Fellow of the Scripps Howard Entrepreneurial Journalism Fellowship held at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
