Baseball’s Caleb Mireles signs professional independent league contract

Caleb Mireles, a two-year member of the OLLU baseball team, has been signed as a pitcher for the Roswell Invaders. The team, based in Roswell, N.M., is part of the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs. The Pecos League is an independent baseball league that is not affiliated with major or minor league baseball. Mireles follows former OLLU baseball team member Brandon Cogbill, who played for the Trinidad Triggers of the Pecos League last summer. Recently, Cogbill enlisted in the U.S. Army and is part of the 519th Military Police Battalion in Fort Polk, La.
After completing his athletic eligibility in 2018, Mireles is finishing his studies at OLLU online and is aiming for a degree in education by the end of the fall 2018 semester.
The Saints baseball team enters its fifth season in 2018-2019 and its second under Head Coach Bryan Aughney. He and Assistant Coach Jeremy Flores, who has been with the Saints program since its inception in 2014-2015, guided the team to its third trip to the RRAC tournament in 2018.
