New student life and athletics leadership announced

President Diane E. Melby, EdD, announced last week the resignation of Vice President for Student Life/Athletic Director Jack Hank. Shane Hurley, head men’s soccer coach, will serve as interim athletic director, while George A. Williams Jr., PhD, dean of Student Success, will serve as vice president for Student Life.

Hurley, who was the first coach hired at OLLU in 2006, will remain head men’s soccer coach and assistant women’s soccer coach. He has had great success, accumulating a 113-67 record and 11 conference tournament berths, with one championship and a trip to nationals.

Dr. Williams oversees the Student Success Center at OLLU. The center offers advising, retention and transfer services; writing and tutoring; disability services; and the McNair Scholars Program. As interim director for Student Life, Williams will manage residence halls and dining services, health services, counseling services, student leadership and development and the International Folk Culture Center.
