OLLU Senior Spotlight: Miki Romain

OLLU senior Miki Romain had a fantastic indoor track and field season with a third trip to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, where she set personal records. She was getting set for outdoor season before it was cut short.

Romain has had an illustrious career at OLLU. At the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier this season, she qualified for the NAIA nationals in the 60m hurdles. “It came down to just one more chance for Miki to qualify,” Sherman commented. “And she handled it with the composure of a senior and multi-time national qualifier. Her race was a textbook display of composure, desire and technique. Obviously, we are very proud of her.”

Romain’s awards and accomplishments include 2017 NAIA National Meet Indoor Qualifier, 2018 NAIA National Meet Outdoor Qualifier, 2019 NAIA National Meet Indoor. This year, at the NAIA National Indoor Meet, Romain recorded her best-ever finish. She ran the 60m hurdles in 8.96 and finished 16th. Romainaddressed the sudden end to the season saying, “One thing I can say is that every athlete should treat each time they step on the track as if it were their last. Shout out to my amazing teammates and coaches who worked hard every single day and kept the positivity going even when it felt impossible.”
