OLLU softball signs San Antonio native Abby Elizondo
The softball team is proud to announce the signing of incoming freshman Abigail Elizondo. She will join the team in 2020-2021.
The softball team’s spring 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 crisis. The NAIA mandated that all spring sports be canceled. The Saints are scheduled to play a limited fall 2020 lineup then get set for their official spring season in February 2021.
Elizondo is a San Antonio native and attended Stevens High School. She was a utility player throughout high school.
Head Coach Bruce Lenington said, “Abigail is a very good catcher and has a consistent swing at the plate. Defensively, I believe that she holds the ability to control our opponent’s running game and will keep teams close to the bag. I am very excited to have her in our program.”
Elizondo’s hobbies include traveling, hanging out with friends and watching shows on Netflix. Her athletic role model is University of Washington softball player Sis Bates. She led her district in RBIs sophomore year and was part of the first-team all-district group her freshman and sophomore year.
