Volleyball sweeps conference players of the week for second time this season

Kalani Ketchens (SR/San Antonio, Texas) was tabbed as the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Feb. 1-7. OLLU’s Anissa Tamez (SR/San Antonio, Texas) was recognized as the RRAC Setter of the Week, and Alyssa Marquez (JR/Albuquerque, N.M.) was honored as the RRAC Defender of the Week for the second straight time. 

Ketchens, a senior outside hitter from San Antonio, pounded out 33 kills in a 3-0 week for the Saints. She posted highs of 14 and 11 kills in back-to-back wins over Xavier University (XULA) in the Big Easy Blastoff. Ketchens registered a .236 attack percentage with only 12 errors for the week. She leads the conference with a .241 hitting percentage and 62 kills. OLLU improved to 5-1 on the season. 

Tamez, a senior setter from San Antonio, delivered 89 assists including 41 in the first match against XULA. She averaged 8.9 assists per set for the week and chipped in 36 digs. Tamez maintained her average at 8.9 assists per set for the season, which is tops in the RRAC. 

Marquez, a junior libero from Albuquerque, N.M., led the Saints with 41 digs last week. She posted double-digit totals in all three matches with 18 digs against XULA. Marquez averaged 3.7 digs per set, and she only had four receiving errors in 37 total attempts. She leads the conference with 3.6 digs per set.
