Women’s golf plays first tournament since being reinstated this season

The women’s golf team competed in its first tournament of the season at the Schreiner Spring Shootout this week at the Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas.

Head Coach Arnie Martinez said, “It was great to get our first women’s event in the books. Seeing our women out there wearing our colors was awesome. I am very proud of how our ladies dealt with the nerves and pressure that comes with their first event. There is a lot of potential with this group of freshmen. They know what they have to work on, and I am confident we will be better at our next event. Go, Saints!”

The women had three participants in the tournament – Madelyn Miller (FR/Copperas Cove, Texas), Ceci Lattuado (FR/Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico) and Christina Trujillo (FR/San Antonio, Texas).

Miller placed 14th overall with an 87-80=167; Lattuado – 84-91=175; and Trujillo – 91=92=183.

The University of Texas at Dallas captured the tournament with an overall score of 656, followed by Trinity University at 658, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 660 and Southwestern University at 670.
