International Women’s Day Rally scheduled for March 8 in Mall Area

An International Women’s Day Rally, featuring musicians, poets and speakers will be held on March 8 in the Mall Area. It also will be livestreamed on the Facebook page of the Center for Mexican American Studies and Research (CMSAR).

The rally will feature:

Return of the Matriarch
Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, San Antonio Poet Laureate
Aminah Decé, performance artist and fine arts instructor

Patricia Castillo, Executive Director of the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative
Karla Aguilar, American Indians in Texas

Johana De León, Family Advocate, Sueños Sin Fronteras

Anacua García, Community Organizer, Southwest Workers

The first 50 attendees will receive free barbacoa tacos.

The event is part of Women’s Herstory Month and is sponsored by the Center for Women in Church and Society, the Center for Mexican American Studies and Research, the International Folk Culture Center and the Music Program.
