Men’s soccer announces 2022 schedule

The men’s soccer team unveiled its fall schedule for the upcoming 2022 season. Head Coach Arthur Salazar will guide the Saints in his second year after an 8-5-3 overall record and a .773 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) winning percentage in 2021.

The Saints start the season with scrimmage matches against NCAA D2 Texas A&M International University on Aug. 17 and Texas Lutheran University (3-1-2) on Aug. 22. The Saints begin the regular season by hosting NCAA D3 Schreiner University (5-1) on Aug. 28 and Kansas Wesleyan University on Sept. 2. The Saints travel north to play Wayland Baptist University (1-4-1) on Sept. 6 and NCAA D3 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (1-0) on Sept. 10. OLLU returns home to face the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-3) on Sept. 15 and Oklahoma City University (2-3-2) on Sept. 17. (Numbers after school indicate all-time records).

RRAC competition begins on Sept. 22 and Sept. 24 when the Saints hit the road to play LSU-Shreveport (6-4) and Texas A&M University-Texarkana (8-0). LSU-Alexandria (2-6-4) and Louisiana Christian University (1-0) arrive in San Antonio for matches on Sept. 29 and Oct. 1. The Saints go to Hobbs, N.M., for a showdown against the University of the Southwest (11-6) on Oct. 6. OLLU stops in Dallas on Oct. 8 to play Paul Quinn College (3-1-1) before hosting Texas College (10-2-1) on Oct. 13 and Jarvis Christian College (8-0) on Oct. 15. The last three matches of the regular season span nine days. The games start on the road against the University of Houston-Victoria (8-7-2) on Oct. 20, home against Huston-Tillotson University (8-8-2) on Oct. 22 and a short distance to play local opponent Texas A&M University-San Antonio (1-0) on Oct. 29.

The RRAC Tournament begins on Nov. 4 with the championship game taking place on Nov. 12. The NAIA National Championships Opening Round runs from Nov. 18-19.
