Women’s soccer releases fall schedule

The women’s soccer team released its schedule for the upcoming 2022 season. Head Coach Arthur Salazar enters his 10th season after leading OLLU to a 13-6-1 record last season and a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament Championship appearance.

The Saints start the fall campaign with two scrimmages. They will host NCAA D2 Texas A&M International University (2-0) on Aug. 17 for a scrimmage and then will hit the road to face NCAA D3 Texas Lutheran University (2-1) on Aug. 22 for another scrimmage. (Numbers after school indicate all-time records).

OLLU will open the season at home against Kansas Wesleyan University (0-1) on Sept. 2. The Saints lost a double-overtime thriller against the Coyotes in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round in 2015. The next three matches will be on the road against Wayland Baptist University (4-1), NCAA D3 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (1-1) and NCAA D3 Concordia University-Texas (7-1). The Saints return home to battle the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (1-2-2) on Sept. 15 and Oklahoma City University (4-3) on Sept. 17.

The Saints begin Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play on the road against LSU-Shreveport (7-3-2) on Sept. 22 and Texas A&M University-Texarkana (6-1) on Sept. 24. LSU-Alexandria (8-1-1) and Louisiana Christian University (LC) (0-2) will travel to San Antonio for matchups on Sept. 29 and Oct. 1. OLLU fell to LC in the RRAC Championship match last season. The Saints head west to face the University of the Southwest (19-2) on Oct. 6 and Paul Quinn College (7-0) in Dallas on Oct. 8. The next two home matches feature teams the Saints have never lost to. Texas College (13-0) will play on Oct. 13 and Jarvis Christian College (8-0) follows on Oct. 15. The Saints take on the University of Houston-Victoria (14-1-1) on the road on Oct. 20 and host Huston-Tillotson University (11-3) on Oct. 22. OLLU closes the regular season against local rival Texas A&M University-San Antonio (1-0) on Oct. 29.

The RRAC Tournament will run from Nov. 4-12. The winner of the postseason tournament will compete in the NAIA Women’s Soccer Championship Opening Round starting on Nov. 18.
