University Ministry is selling Spirit Day t-shirts for $15 each. They can be purchased in the Elliott House during regular business hours and through pop-up sales around campus. T-shirts will be available on the Houston and RGV campuses soon.
The annual Spirit Day Mass will take place on Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel. All classes will be canceled from 10:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. to allow students to attend. Offices can close to allow employees to attend.
Spirit Day is a tradition that dates back to the 16th century. Catholic universities across the world begin their academic years with a celebration of a Mass of the Holy Spirit. Spirit Day is a time to ask for the Holy Spirit’s blessing and serves as a reminder of everyone’s call to bless the Holy Spirit with their lives.
