Two Cheerleaders earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition

Two members of OLLU’s Competitive Cheer Team, Ember Sandoval and Skylar Lloyd, have been named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Competitive Cheer Scholar-Athletes.

Sandoval, a sophomore from Eagle Pass, Texas, earned a 4.0 GPA. Lloyd, a senior from Eagle River, Alaska, earned a 3.51 GPA. This is her second consecutive award.

The 2024 list features 234 student-athletes from 66 total institutions, who achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution’s sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
