OLLU Saints Put Service Into Action During September Service Saturday

Our Lady of the Lake University students came together to serve San Antonio’s West Side during September’s Service Saturday, partnering with Building Hope Together to help local seniors age in place with dignity and independence.

Building Hope Together is a small nonprofit dedicated to supporting low-income seniors by helping make their homes safer and more accessible. As part of its work, the organization recently built two accessibility ramps for seniors in the community.

OLLU volunteers helped put the finishing touches on the ramps by painting and staining them, contributing hands-on work that will help make the homes more accessible for their residents.

Participants included Professor Petersen’s Honors 2300 class and members of Kappa Delta Chi sorority, who spent their Saturday putting the University’s mission of service into action.

The effort reflects OLLU’s commitment to community engagement and service—creating opportunities for students to learn beyond the classroom while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Together, OLLU Saints and community partners are building hope—one act of service at a time. 💙💛
