The university will discontinue the use of ConvergePoint this fall. A Policy Bank housed in SharePoint will take its place.

The OLLU-Houston MFT faculty, under the Direction of Stephanie Zepeda, PhD, recently held its Sixth Annual Life Changing Conversations Conference for postmodern, social constructionist thinkers to share their work and generate new ideas.
On June 9 and 10, presenters led workshops on a range of topics, such as “Always Adapting: Children of Immigrant Parents” and “Effective Therapy from a Collaborative-Dialogical Lens.”
Presenters included former and current students and faculty from the San Antonio and Houston campuses and out-of-state therapists. Debbie Healy, PsyD, Professor of Psychology, delivered the keynote. Stephanie Zepeda, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychology, and Adriana Gil-Wilkerson, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychology, delivered an Ethics presentation.
The 2023 San Antonio Speech, Hearing and Language Association (SASHLA) Summer Conference will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Library Community Room.

Jacob Friesenhahn, PhD, Visiting Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, had five poems published in the May issue of Rundelania.Rundelania is a poetry magazine published by the Arts and Literature Division of the Central Library in Rochester, NY.
Dr. Friesenhahn published “bouquet,” “Immaculate Conception,” “The Foolish Men and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz: A Dialogue,” “presence,” and “Matryoshka.” Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (1648-1695) was a Mexican scholar, religious sister, feminist, poet, philosopher, and mystic. She is the subject of two of the five poems. The common theme across all five poems is the divine feminine. Read the poems online.

The Adelante Training and Development Conference will be held Tuesday and Wednesday and feature non-academic training and development for all OLLU employees.
The conference will include in-person and virtual sessions. Supervisors are encouraged to work out a schedule that will allow all employees to attend sessions they are interested in or are relevant to their position.

Kirsten Komara, director of OLLU’s Academic Center for Excellence; Nicole Monsibais, the university’s Equity and Compliance Officer/Title IX Coordinator; and Madison Taber, director of Assessment and Accreditation, attended the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) held in New Orleans last week. NCORE provides a forum for discussion and critical dialogue about race, ethnicity, and its intersections in higher education and helps institutions find effective strategies for promoting access, social development, education, positive communication, and cross-cultural understanding in diverse settings. Participation in the conference was made possible by a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board grant for the Student Success Acceleration Implementation Program.
