The students and faculty of the Music Program will hold a Fall Recital on Friday from 12:30-2 p.m. in Griffith Fine Arts and Humanities Building, Room 200. It also will be available via livestream at this link.
Performances will include piano, clarinet, voice, music production and mariachi.
The Student Employment Office, previously located on the ground floor of the Walter Student Service Center, has moved up a floor and is now located in the same suite as the Financial Aid Office. The location is Walter Center, Room 105.
Student Employment is part of the Financial Aid Office and the move allows for greater efficiencies for the team.
OLLU’s 89th annual Candlelight is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Members of the community are invited to join the Candlelight choir. Rehearsals will take place in Sacred Heart Chapel on: Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.
Candlelight includes an advent prayer service in Sacred Heart Chapel followed by Christmas caroling in Moye Rotunda. A reception follows the celebration. Members of the choir will perform during the prayer service and will lead the entire community in Christmas carols in the Rotunda. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees and CDPs are invited to join the choir.
The fall 2024 StudyCon event will happen on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. in the Sueltenfuss Library.
StudyCon offers students a holistic approach to preparing for exams. It includes massage therapy, yoga, meditation, karaoke, prayer, food, and games, as well as tutoring in math, science, and writing, mental health support, and a prayer wall. Most importantly, StudyCon emphasizes taking care of yourself, so you engage in long-term learning and long-term academic success.

OLLU’s TExAS FAST scholars and the vOLLUnteer Unity Council organized and hosted a cleanup of Elmendorf Lake on Nov. 9. Twenty-seven students showed up to help make the park and campus more beautiful. This was done in partnership with San Antonio Parks and Recreation. The plan is to turn the clean up into a regular event each semester. Watch out for the clean-up day in the spring!

Students planning to graduate in the spring or summer 2025 semester have until Jan. 3, 2025, to submit the graduation application. Apply online through the “Graduation” tile in Saints Connect.
Dr. Stephanie Zepeda, head of the Marriage and Family Therapy program on the OLLU-Houston campus. was recently featured again on the “Catholic Lunch Break” show with the Guadalupe Radio Network. In her interview, Dr. Zepeda discussed the unique ways therapists support their clients and highlighted her own work in helping couples address financial challenges in their relationships. All biweekly employees are reminded to submit their vacation prior to the Thanksgiving break if not working and taking vacation for Monday, Nov. 25, and Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Supervisors also are reminded to approve all leave requests for biweekly employees on or before 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.
The deadline for supervisors to reviewed and approve timecards is Noon on Monday, Dec. 2.
