Nominations for Student Leadership Awards due by April 10

The Student Leadership and Development Office is accepting nominations for 2022 Student Leadership Awards, which will be announced at the Student Leadership Award Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on April 26.

The Student Leadership Award Ceremony recognizes student leaders, student organizations and organization advisors and faculty/staff for their hard work and dedication during the year to build campus community.

End of Year Appreciation dinner and faculty, staff awards set for April 20

The End of Year Appreciation dinner and annual faculty and staff awards will be held at 6 p.m. on April 20 in Chapel Auditorium.

The evening will begin with a reception at 5:15 p.m. The dinner and awards presentation will follow at 6 p.m. The event will be an opportunity for President Diane Melby, EDd, and the Board of Trustees to thank faculty and staff for their extraordinary service during a very challenging year.

The dress code is business casual and this is an adults-only event. There is no cost to attend.

OLLU President Diane Melby, EdD, invites the OLLU campus community to join her, the Board of Trustees and other invited guests for the End of Year Appreciation Dinner, which will be held on April 20.  

The evening will begin with a reception at 5:15 pm, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. in Chapel Auditorium. The annual faculty and staff awards also will be presented. You and your spouse, friend or significant other are invited. This event will give Dr. Melby the opportunity to thank everyone for their extraordinary service to the OLLU community during what has been a challenging year.

Dress code is business casual, and this is an adults-only event. There is no cost to attend.

OLLU presents 10th Annual BIG BLUE All-Sports Athletic Banquet

Our Lady of the Lake University is proud to present the 10th Annual BIG BLUE All-Sports Athletic Banquet – Virtual Edition. The university is proud of all of its athletes, teams, coaches and staff for all of their accomplishments during the 2020-2021 athletic season. Congratulations to everyone.

Volleyball honored with several conference awards

OLLU, the Red River Athletic Conference regular-season champions, hosted a social event Friday evening to announce the 2020 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) All-Conference Team.

Capturing the Champions of Character award was freshman Megan Montalvo. Named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team were Amanda Esparza and Montalvo. The Second-Team honorees included Cassidy Haller, Tijana Kruta and Lauren Woitena.

The All-Conference First-Team selections included Sadie Ballesteros, Kalani Ketchens, Alyssa Marquez and Anissa Tamez – all repeat all-conference winners.

The Saints claimed five of the seven Players of the Year awards. Coach of the Year was Scott Mattera. Freshman of the Year was Haller, Tamez was Setter of the Year and Ketchens was the Front-Row Player of the Year. Four-year senior Tamez received the Player of the Year for the conference.

This season, second-year senior Ketchens tallied 119 kills in 283 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .258. Third-year senior Marquez added 136 digs for 4.12 digs per set. Freshman Haller had 50 kills on 121 attacks, 11 digs and seven total blocks. Four-year senior Tamez has 305 assists for 9.53 assists per game, 90 digs and eight assists.

Mattera is in his second season with the Saints. Last year, his team finished third in the conference and was a tournament finalist. He tallied a 19-7 overall record and 8-4 conference record. This year, his team had a perfect 6-0 conference record, and currently, the team is 11-1 overall.
